Branding? Is that still a thing?
I have some really fun ideas for packaging and branding moving forward, and look forward to sharing more in the future!
I mentioned in the last post that I'm also now moving into audiobook territory. It's really fun, though it has it's issues for sure because people keep faking out with AI voices, some of which are almost impossible to tell are not real people.
I've also got several shorts and novellas coming out in the next few months that I'm excited to share with you. In the new year, I will begin publishing new stories, but unlike the previous stories I've shared, this collection will only be available on my website, so no amazon or other options will be available. It will streamline my process and I'm very excited about that.
I want to move forward with a more unified and collected vision for what I'm trying to do with my journey. I have so many things I am looking forward to exploring and writing, but one thing I learned this year was that I am not cut out for the cutthroat world of self-publishing and self-marketing. I really do not enjoy having to go door to door begging shops to carry my books, or constantly making up posts on several different social media outlets that never share my posts to even a fraction of my followers without me paying them tons of money.
From now on, I will be posting direct to this blog, where I can then share the posts to various social media outlets all at once and remove myself largely from them. It will probably still result in even less engagement with their algorithm, but I'm making my peace with that. I can spend hours a day "engaged" with instagram and it gets me very little in return.
I have to ask myself the question, "why am I doing this?" and "why do I write?"
I write because I simply cannot stop. I love it. It's such a fun thing for me. It doesn't really matter if I sell anything. I forgot that for a while, concerning myself with trying to be "Successful" for whatever that's worth. Time to say goodbye to that, and get back to the writing which is what I love.
I hope those of you who keep tabs on the blog will continue to do so, because I've got plenty of fun stuff planned. Take care and talk to you soon for the December update. Stay tuned for it, and sign up for my mailing list if you haven't because it's going to include a bonus short story only available for those of you on my email subscriber list!
Love you,
